Belonging in both Christian and Zen Buddhist traditions, Sister Ruth Furneaux/Kashin sama was encouraged to teach by John Garrie Roshi and by Bishop Rowan Williams, who held her life vows as a hermit. This small selection is the first publication of insights gained from her life of Buddhist-Christian inter-practice. The writings were compiled from her teaching and newsletters by two oblates and a trustee of the hermitage, where she lived. Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury, and Rev. Master Daishin Morgan, former Abbot of Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey contribute an introduction and postscript to the collection.
