Part-memoir, part-roadmap for liberation movements across the world by Palestinian human rights activist Fadi Quran outlining a five-pillar guide of how to organize a movement to effectively resist oppression
Across the world, regular citizens of all ages are bravely and spontaneously standing up to forces of oppression and exploitation, in Dawn of Liberation a leader of the Palestinian liberation movement shares a blueprint to channel that impulse into lasting change.
Drawing from his decades-long experiences on the front lines of political activism on the ground in Palestine, interviews with other movement leaders around the globe, and his decades-long studies of global liberation movements from South Africa to Vietnam, Fadi Quran shows how regular people can build power even in the face of oppression and devastation.
Like so many young people who feel disenfranchised, Quran explains that none of the political options available in Palestine truly represented his beliefs, so he set out to create his own. In Dawn of Liberation, he argues that successful movements rest on five interlocking pillars: internal cohesion, strategic alliance, coercive power, economic leverage, and strategic coordination. Each chapter will illustrate one of these concepts, showing how Quran came to believe in their essential nature.
