The complete history of the Nürburgring 24-Hours, the world’s wildest endurance race Held annually on the legendary Nürburgring circuit in Germany’s Eifel mountains, the Nürburgring 24-Hours is one of the world’s most demanding and prestigious endurance races. First held in 1970, it combines the original 20.8km Nordschleife with the contemporary Grand Prix circuit, creating a 25km lap that attracts more than 150 production-based supercars, GTs and hot hatches and over 700 drivers, making it one of the largest starting fields in motorsport. Factory teams from manufacturers such as Porsche, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Ferrari use it partly as a durability and PR showcase. Spectator numbers are enormous, regularly more than 200,000 over the weekend, with fans camping trackside for days, giving the race its unique festival atmosphere
