In New Orleans during the 1920s, Charles St. Claire, the last of one of the old Louisiana families, is brutally murdered. His wife, Remy Lelourie, a beautiful film star, stands accused. Things get complicated when the investigating officer turns out to be one of Remy's many former lovers.
