A further cohesive element is the interval of a perfect 4th with which the Suite opens, and which is the germ from which all the following themes grow. The Suite can be played as a recital piece, in its entirety or movements may be used as part of the liturgy. The Introduction and Trumpet Tune work well together as a postlude, as does the arresting Finale. The gentle Homage to Elgar can provide a thoughtful support to the distribution of Communion.
