This book focuses on revisiting Hume’s political philosophy through traditional utilitarianism. Chen criticizes the contemporary approaches of marginalizing utilitarianism in interpreting Hume. Instead, he argues that we should understand Hume in the context of conventionalism in order to fully grasp his thought.
