Dizzy opens with its central characters in a nearly impossible situation. Ava is at home in her high-rise apartment building, enjoying an evening with Robin, when the doorbell rings. One of her lovers arrives, then another. Delia returns to retrieve the cell phone they had left earlier that day; Silvia comes seeking explanation after having been ghosted. Ava's careful calibration of schedules and desires threatens to unravel and, overwhelmed, she flees to the roof. The others follow and a door closes, leaving all four stuck on the rooftop without a key or a phone. To get down, they'll need to work together—but that won't be easy.

Writing with wit, flair, and confidence, Hengameh Yaghoobifarah is one of the most highly regarded young authors in Germany. The original German edition of Dizzy received broad acclaim across a spectrum of publications: "a fantastic queer kammerspiel" (kulturtipp), "holds you spellbound" (ELLE), "rarely does one read so intensely, truthfully, and in such detail about desire" (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung), and "unlike anything that has ever been written in Germany before" (Berliner Zeitung). With this translation, English language readers will finally have the opportunity to experience this whirlwind of a novel.
