'What did you leave behind, Captain?' 'Bad memories and a fucking mess...'
4991 TCE : 09 : 21 Life is full of choices.
Eric Hillar's choices have led to the United Trade Confederate branding him their first in over 2000 revolutions. On the run, he finds himself in the sector of space known as The Rim. It is not just the slaver press gangs that notice his arrival.

Pirate Captain Hawke has a target she needs crew for, and she doesn't take no for an answer. If Eric plays his cards right, he might keep his freedom, his life and earn enough credits to finally disappear.
Or he just might be given the chance to make a choice that matters...
Descent is the first book from R.A. Howes' Tide of the Stars universe. An intergalactic cyberpunk style universe where the dominant powers are worse than those they brand as criminals. Based in the sector of space known as The Rim, Descent follows Eric Hillar, a man with a price on his head and no one to turn too. Recruited into a space pirate crew, Eric needs to decide if he will keep running, or if he will stop long enough to find a place to belong, even if it is amongst killers.
About the Author Renee lives with her husband and four children (two furred and two humanoid) in Australia. After years of procrastination and writing as an off-on hobby, she finally took it seriously during maternity leave and digitally dusted off an old manuscript and reworked her science fiction series, Tide of the Stars . Descent is the first book based in that universe. When she isn't writing or wallowing in the chaos of family life, Renee can be found on YouTube as R.A. Howes (where she shares her often unpopular writing opinions), working on her handcrafts or attempting to organise her small home.
