Beschrijving
This visually stunning book is the first to chronicle the oeuvre of one of Canada's most compelling young artists and includes essays from five internationally respected curators plus an interview with the artist himself.
Brian Jungen is of European and Aboriginal heritage. He trained at the Emily Carr Institute of Design in Vancouver, BC as well as Concordia University in Montreal, QC. In less than 15 years, his work has reached an astonishingly wide international audience. Jungen is best known for recontextualizing modern consumer items, in particular for his revisioning of Nike Air Jordans as Aboriginal masks. His work is accessible as well as respected by the critics. He has exhibited at galleries around the world, including solo exhibitions at the Tate Modern in London, the New Museum of Contemporary Art in NYC, and the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC. Jungen is still young and his work is sure to grow in importance and scope in coming years.
