This text is a source of information on the toxicity of anaesthetic agents. The editors define toxicity in a broad sense to mean an adverse effect, whether that effect is the result of pharmacological, toxicological, physiological, or other mechanisms. They bring together reviews by experts in the disciplines concerned - including biochemistry, genetics, and immunology - involved in current research on these adverse effects.; The initial chapters provide an understanding of the factors responsible for toxicity, and the ways in which the adverse effects of anaesthetics can be investigated.
